A tribute to the Game Boy, a founder’s note

When I was a kid, the clear Game Boy handheld felt like magic. You could see the board, the ribbon cable, the little coils.

But you couldn’t see through the board or the screen. The display and the body was still a solid rectangle on a solid grey frame.

I wanted a device that was as transparent as possible, not as a gimmick, but as a part of the handheld experience. That’s what I’ve been trying to solve for the last several years.

Today I’m pleased to be able to share my invention, the ArduView, a handheld you can actually call transparent.

The circuit is part of the experience.
